G-11 Karawitan art in TSC Idol 2011

            Memang SMA Negeri 11 Garut memiliki Sumber Daya Murid yang luar biasa baik itu dalam akademik maupun nonakademik, dan tidak hanya itu juga, para warga SMA Negeri 11 Garut memiliki kekompakan dan solidaritas yang tinggi. Itu semua terbukti saat Karawitan Art SMA Negeri 11 Garut dalam rangka mengikuti TSC Idol atau Telkomsel School Community Idol 2011 yang diselenggarakan oleh Telkomsel, TSC Idol merupakan ajang lomba kreasi pelajar yang diselenggarakan oleh Telkomsel tingkat priangan, dimana para pelajar dari masing-masing sekolah menunjukkan berbagai kreasi seni baik itu berupa tari, vokal suara, atau kreasi seni lainnya yang ditampilkan dalam sebuah rekaman video. Rekaman video tersebut nantinya akan diunggah dalam situs TSC Idol, dalam website TSC Idol tersebut nantinya penilaian akan dilakukan dengan cara dari jumlah banyaknya jumlah pelajar yang masuk dan mendukung karya seni dari sekolah masing-masing. Dan tidak hanya pelajar dari setiap sekolah saja yang mendukung, akan tetapi hal tersebut terbuka bagi siapa saja yang mengunjungi website TSC Idol dan mendukung sekolah yang dirasa kreasi seninya paling bagus.

Laboratorium Bahasa

Language Lab

            Seperti yang kita ketahui laboratorium adalah tempat untuk melakukan praktikum dan riset sebelum kita mengaplikasikan apa yang dipraktikan kepada ruang lingkup masyarakat yang lebih luas. Seperti halnya juga Lab Bahasa yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki oleh sebuah instansi sekolah untuk menunjang proses belajar mengajar di sekolah. Terutama seperti sekolah yang sudah menyandang Rintisan Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional (RSBI), tentu Lab Bahasa adalah suatu keharusan fasilitas yang harus dipenuhi oleh sekolah demi menghasilkan sumber daya yang bisa bersaing secara global. Teknologi penunjang dalam menguasai bahasa ini sangatlah diperlukan, sebagaimana sebagai media berlatih bagi siswa-siswi di sekolah untuk mengembangkan bahasa apa yang dipelajari, terutama bahasa Inggris.

            Lab Bahasa di SMA Negeri 11 Garut dilengkapi dengan berbagai peralatan seperti software, PC, perangkat audio visual, earphones, dll. Selain media pengajar yang memiliki kemampuan yang baik, lab bahasa merupakan pendukung yang penting dalam menunjang kegiatan belajar dan mengajar di sekolah maupun lembaga pendidikan. Lab Bahasa juga merupakan media pembelajaran bahasa asing yang interaktif dan efisien. Dan di lab bahasa SMA Negeri 11 garut, tidak hanya melakukan praktikum pembelajaran bahasa saja, akan tetapi dijadikan tempat pembinaan dalam mempersiapkan siswa-siswi SMA Negeri 11 Garut yang diikutsertakan dalam berbagai kompetisi bahasa, misalnya saja kompetisi dalam bahasa Inggris, seperti pelatihan Debat Bahasa Inggris dalam kompetisi debat bahasa Inggris dari tingkat Kabupaten, Provinsi, hingga ke tingkat Nasional.

How important technology implementation at school?

            If we take a look according to the ‘Factors that determine School Effectiveness (World Bank)’, according to the main issue of Indonesian school that education technology is one of the issues as one part in Teaching and Learning activities from some factors that school can be effective.

When talk about technology implementation at school, technology quite very important for school especially in this modern and globalization era. And one of the technologies that very close with school is Internet or technology of information.

            Technology at school can be related with the fact that through interactive mentor video, PowerPoint presentation using InFocus and direct explanation of science. And even students can develop better understanding in varies of school subjects. And also conferencing video is very effective solution for absent teachers to give important mentor for students that teachers are physically not in the classroom. And also with educational technology can help people with abnormal physic to access information from Internet.

SMAN 11 GARUT in the 6th EPHITECH

            EPHITECH known as an annual agenda that is held by education officinal of West-Java which followed by 26 cities West-Java, this agenda pointed for Vocational High School (SMK) in West-Java. EPHITECH abbreviate of Education Expo of Technology or in Indonesian ‘Expo Pendidikan Teknologi’ that is one of the west-java governance’s program to support Vocational High School (SMK)’ Achievements.

            Something quite amazing was thought that SMA Negeri 11 Garut is not a Vocational High School or SMK, but SMAN 11 Garut afforded to participate in EPIHITECH Program with their masterpiece of science inventions. The 6^th EPHITECH was held in SMK Negeri 2 Tasikmalaya with the theme “SMK UNGGUL DI PASAR KERJA GLOBAL” in 11-13 November 2011.

6.     Publication and visualization of public information about profession coordination department in west-java as public motivation to interact citizens for schooling their children to the Vocational High School (SMK).

Laboratorium Multimedia

Multimedia Spot

            Keberadaan laboratorium multimedia disekolah memang sangat penting, apalagi dengan adanya berbagai topic mata bahasan yang tentu saja tidak dapat dipaparkan kepada murid secara mudah begitu saja, namun dapat disajikan dengan teknologi multimedia secara khusus. Apalagi keberadaan lab multimedia di sekolah-sekolah berekstensi Rintisan Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional (RSBI) seperti SMA Negeri 11 Garut memang wajib untuk dipenuhi.

Labaratorium multimedia adalah tempat praktikum yang mampu memfasilitasi beberapa aktifitas praktikum sekolah yang berhubungan dengan TIK dan IPTEK. Atau secara teknis, Laboratorium Multimedia dapat digambarkan sebagai ruangan yang berisi seperangkat computer disertai dengan beberapa perangkat pelengkap seperti audio visual yang saling terintergrasi, dan dilengkapi dengan berbagai aplikasi yang disesuaikan dengan memberikan layanan tambahan terhadap laboratorium konvensional.

Laboratorium multimedia SMA Negeri 11 garut dilengkapi dengan AC yang cukup sehingga suhu udara didalam ruangan tetap stabil dan steril sehingga membuat nyaman bagi siapa saja penggunanya. Selain itu pula, Laboratorium Multimedia di SMA Negeri 11 Garut juga dipakai oleh para guru untuk workshop dan berbagai pelatihan. Alasan yang mengemukakan bahwa pentingnya laboratorium Multimedia di sekolah adalah bahwa hampir seluruh fungsional laboratorium konvensional lainnya seperti Lab. Bahasa, Lab IPA, dan Lab Komputer, dapat diperkaya oleh fungsional Laboratorium Multimedia. Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena karakteristik teknologi multimedia yang mampu mengolah data teks, gambar, gambar bergerak atau video, serta suara kedalam suatu aplikasi, sehingga berbagai topik bahasan mata pelajaran dapat dengan mudah dipaparkan secara konprehensif dengan menggunakan aplikasi Multimedia.

Secara keseluruhan, fungsi utama dari laboratorium Multimedia adalah:

1.       Interaksi antara Guru dan Murid.

2.      Latihan mata pelajaran interaktif secara online.

3.      Menyediakan ensiklopedia digital

4.     Operasionalitas eBook

5.      Simulasi kasus berbasis Multimedia

6.     Penayangan video pembelajaran.

School Car of SMAN 11 Garut

            The first thing was we actually felt doubt about involving this kind of technology or facility of our school. But, why not… because we think this kind of facility of our school is actually kind of technology, but this kind of technology helping students for transportation service in our school.

 History of school bus

            

             The first school bus was horse drawn, introduced in 1827 by George Shillibeer for a Quaker school at Abney Park in Stoke Newington, north-east of London (UK), and was designed to carry 25 students. The primary vehicle used for students transport in North America, School buses is distinguished from other types of buses by design characteristics necessitated by federal and state/provincial regulations. Federal safety standard require school buses to be painted school bus yellow and equipped with specific warning and safety devices. This service is almost always provided without charge to families. In the U.S, the term “busing” is also a term that refers desegregation busing, the transport of students to school other than the closest local school for the purposes of racial integration. In other parts of the world, the term “school bus” refers more to destination of the bus and its student passengers than the specific vehicle designed for that purpose; the vehicles used for student transport are more closely related to other types of buses than their North American Counterparts.

             

            Ok guys, I think that’s all for a little information about the history of school bus in the UK and the U.S. but, honestly our school bus/car is really different from the UK or America that ours is only transport and carrying some students which carrying to some school events or competitions and not transport a lot of students that has just told above. The school car of our school is not really big and huge. But, its only transport minimal students whose going to participate such a province level competition or national level competition.

            Our school car has designed by the famous vehicle company in Japan that is SUZUKI; the type of our school car is SUZUKI APV ARENA which is a really comfortable car for carrying some students to escort them to an event or competition out of school.

Art Studio of G11

       Bila membicarakan soal pemanfaatan teknologi di sekolah, mungkin teknologi yang kerap kali digunakan adalah teknologi di bidang informasi yaitu Internet. di SMA Negeri 11 Garut tidak hanya sebatas sekolah dengan logo biasa saja, akan tetapi SMA Negeri 11 Garut bisa memiliki ikon tersendiri yang dimana ikon tersebut menjadi identitas sekolah yang telah dipatenkan bahwa SMA Negeri 11 Garut mempunyai ikon sekolah. Logo ikon dari SMA Negeri 11 Garut adalah G11 yang artinya adalah 11 Garut atau SMA Negeri 11 garut.

       Dengan adanya ikon ini diharapkan setiap orang yang termasuk kedalam keluarga besar SMA Negeri 11 garut harus memakai atau menempelkan stiker ikon sekolah tersebut, baik itu dikendaraan, tas, dsb milik siswa, guru, dan setiap orang yang termasuk kedalam keluarga besar SMA Negeri 11 Garut. HOTSPOT at School

What is actually HOTSPOT?

     Well, actually HOTSPOT is an area where the users can access Internet through mobile computer like Laptop, Tablet, or PDA). HOTSPOT no requirement of cable connection to the computer in order can access internet. Wireless LAN use radio frequency to do some communications among computer wares with point access where basically it’s like two directions of receiver in frequency.

     Commonly devices of Wi-Fi HOTSPOT use IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g standardization that uses some security levels like WEP or WPA.

     
     At school especially our school, SMAN 11 Garut use hotspot as accessible internet service at school, because almost every students in SMAN 11 Garut has their own laptop or computer. There are two points of Hotspot area in SMAN 11 Garut, and of course with hotspot service area every student at school can access internet easily.

Types of HOTSPOT

There are some types of hotspot that commonly use:

     1.Free hotspot as extra service for public customers usually operated in hotel, lobby, conference room, coffee shop, or café. And sometimes this type of hotspot use as semi permanent installation in computer seminar or conference.

1.       Hotspot payment system to the owner of the building, usually in Hotel room, restaurant, or coffee shop, not every hotel able to give free Wi-Fi service. They take a policy to service payment to the hotspot users to prevent from leased line or unlimited ADSL to the internet.

2.           2.Hotspot with system payment to the hotspot Wi-Fi operator, for instance Boingo, iPASS. Hotspot Wi-Fi operator is International networking globally with a lot of users which move to the other place internationally. This kind of hotspot commonly will more interest for they who have a lot of users come from around the world.

But, don’t worry because types of hotspot above, our school use free hotspot area service. Not every place or area can use hotspot service, but only certainty place or area. And usually the places which commonly have hotspot area service that use LAN wireless technology, like at University, Mall, Library, School, Restaurant or Airport. Like has explained above that there’s two sorts of hotspot service, namely free service and payment service.

     Usually students at school access internet through hotspot area service for browsing, doing some social network, downloading, listen to the online music, playing online games etc. But, of course school firmly for banning for opening sites porn, or something unusual to be watched or listen.
